Twitter How-To Guide: Videos

Publishing Videos on Twitter

This is a new feature that Twitter launched in early 2015, which allows Twitter users to publish videos via the mobile application. These videos can be up to 30-seconds in length, which is an added bonus compared to Instagram’s 15-second limit. When filming and uploading a video there are a few different ways you may do this.

Recording your video via mobile device (recommended as the simplest way).

  1. Record video in the mobile phone’s camera application.
  2. Once created, open the mobile Twitter application .
  3. Create a new Tweet (top right corner of the application).
  4. Compose your Tweet (under 100 characters).
  5. Select your video from your camera roll.
  6. Tweet it to the universe!

Get Creative:

Twitter allows you to shoot video from within the application as well. This means you can open the app, begin a tweet, and start recording the action. From there you can record multiple clips, edit, and piece together separate footage for cool camera angles and creativity.

If you choose to record your video on another device, simply email yourself the small file, open the email on your mobile device and save. Then upload the video in Twitter app as directed above.

These options give you the choice to keep it simple or get as creative as you want with your videos. Of course, the use of iMovie or other video editing applications are always a great option when looking to enhance any video.
