Tracing Dynamic Tiering Queries in HANA

To understand how the dynamic tiering queries get executed, you can enable tracing.

Here is the process:

1. In HANA studio, under open the HANA instance administration page, click on “Trace Configuration” tab.
2. Edit the database trace and check “Show All Configuration”:
   
3. Search for “fedtrace” and select fedtrace under INDEXSERVER  and set it to “DEBUG”:

   

4. Hit finish.
5. You will be able to look at the indexserver trace files to see all the detailed execution of DT queries.

Dont forget to disable the trace level back to the defaults after the debugging sessions, otherwise there may be some performance hit on the system.
