Functional Relations in ORCHESTRA Organization Charting Tool
This will be my first blog in scn and I am very happy to write things here.
Before start, I like to introduce myself and my company with a few words. Because I read some introductory documents about how to write an article in scn and I ve learned that more important is to share something which is important to community rather then the language, that made me so comfortable.
I am SAP HCM Consultant for about fifteen years and my company HRSP, located in Istanbul – Turkey, is focusing on SAP HCM module only for about fifteen years. In addition to SAP HCM Consulting, we are also creating integrated softwares for SAP HCM Module. We have now two certified products: HRSP PDC: this is a plant data interface for implementing full positive time management and provides seamless unique communication between clock data readers and SAP. Our second product is ORCHESTRA, which is an organizational charting tool that can be integrated with SAP organization structures through PPOME, ESS/MSS solutions.
My first artcile will be about ORCHESTRA Organization Charting Tool.
What is Functional Relationships in OM Module?
From business view, this is a requirement from some organizations who has another relations between positions other than administrative relationships. As you all know, default is administrative relations, that is created as you maintain your company structures in standard transaction PPOME. When you select managerial checkbox in position maintanence screen, you are creating administrative manager in background for related department. System is creating additional one relationship type that makes the position owner a manager of the all other positons exist in this organization.
Functional relationships generally generated by the specific job focused groups. For example, you may need to set up a group of people who are responsible from certain product family. This group of people will also have additional titles and relationships that is particular to that group. In organizations, there is no limit that company may create such relationships and always request to visualize this relationships as dotted lines between employee boxes.
How to Create Functional Relationships in SAP OM Module?
Question arises here, how to create this relationships in SAP OM module? The relationship type that has to be used here is 005. By using 005 relationship between positions, you can create functional relationships.
Below is an example of how to relate two positions in SAP OM module:
This relationship can be created by detailed organization object maintanence screens, but if you do necessary customizations you can manage these relations also from PPOME screen.
How to Show These Relations in ORCHESTRA Organization Charting Tool?
When you launch ORCHESTRA Organization Charting Tool from PPOME screen menu, first launched organization view is our ZHRSP1 and data scenerio HRSP.
Both these view scenerio and data scenerio need to be customized in your SAP system, this is another requirement that has to be completed in project implementation of ORCHESTRA.
But, if organization unit that you have just launched from SAP has functional relationships as I defined in fist part, what you need to to for showing them in ORCHESTRA is just to select “Functional Assignments” checkbox.
As soon as you have click this checkbox, you will see your functional lines as shown below:
