Transactional Data Movement for On-premise and Amazon AWS Cloud Environments

With the internet revolution, today’s extended enterprise supports a complex, ever-growing data environment that often includes incompatible systems and data schemas spread across infrastructures and boundaries. The business challenge is preventing data loss and delayed access. The SAP® Replication Server® enables business continuity with active insights, accelerating data recovery and access, with real-time replication, across the extended enterprise.

You can:

  • Distribute and synchronize data across geographies and business boundaries to multiple systems

  • Provide application data in real time for reporting servers and data warehouses

  • Enable high availability and disaster recovery for global enterprises

  • Comply with industry regulations requiring strict transaction tracking

  • Integrate acquired data assets for 360-degree access across the enterprise

  • Migrate data to new databases, hardware, or OS platforms

SAP REPLICATION SERVER FOR AMAZON AWS CLOUD ENVIRONMENT

SAP Replication Server version 15.7.1 SP204, released in December 2014, now supports your enterprise data management across on-premise and Amazon AWS cloud environments, by replicating and synchronizing transactions originating in SAP Adaptive Server® Enterprise (SAP ASE) and  Oracle databases to SAP HANA® and  SAP Adaptive Server® Enterprise (SAP ASE) databases (please see table below for certified replication combinations). It provides the high-performance, secure, reliable, and consistent delivery of data across the extended enterprise, addressing:

  • Data movement, distribution, synchronization, and migration

  • Real-time reporting

  • Disaster recovery and high availability

DELIVERING KEY FUNCTIONALITY

With SAP Replication Server, you gain all the benefits of:

  • High-performance data movement

  • Nonintrusive transaction capture without degrading transactional
    database source

  • Dependable transaction application to target database, for
    zero data loss

  • Real-time synchronization across heterogeneous data sources

  • Centralized modeling and administration of complex deployment
    architectures

  • Flexible data translations

  • Distributed architecture with reliable and consistent data delivery

High-Performance Replication

REDEFINING HIGH PERFORMANCE

Performance is a defining factor of SAP Replication Server - this can be attributed to the following features and functionality:

  • Continuous real-time, log-based transactional data capture

  • Structured Query Language (SQL) statement replication, which replicates only the SQL statement itself to the target database

  • Stored procedure replication, which reduces replication system latency

  • Optimized transaction performance to reduce latency between the source database and target database

AMAZON AWS REPLICATION ARCHITECTURES

The SAP Replication Server supports bi-directional data movement between Amazon AWS EC2 instances. The required firewall and security policies must be established to enable replication between on-premise and Amazon AWS environments and between AWS EC2 instances in the Amazon AWS cloud environment.
