    No one is more pedantic than I, so a word about the analogy:-

    SAP does not “drink it’s own champagne”. Champagne looks nice, is easy to drink, tastes great, drinking this is not a problem. It’s like saying the boss of a travel company flies on his own private jet to stay in his own five star hotel. That is not something that makes people stand up and applaud you.

    SAP is “eating it’s own dog food”. Dog food does not look very nice, and most humans are not in a rush to eat it, but eating your own dog food is a statement that you stand by your product, you know it is really good no matter how unpalatable it looks at first glance and to prove it you are going to eat it yourself.

    That is the entire point of the analogy.
