There are quite a few events being offered during Month of Inclusion that have sparked my interest, however, the one I have enjoyed the most so far was not about my own personal or professional growth. It was about teaming together with my peers to help make a difference in people’s lives by serving others less fortunate than us at Open Heart Kitchen.
Over the years, I have noticed how the elderly are often times without companionship – many are left without their life long partners, children grow up and move on to start their own families. I can only imagine how difficult this may be for some of these people, especially if they are also facing financial burdens.
I learned a long time ago that a smile can go a long way and does not cost a thing. This event was full of opportunities for me to help brighten up a few people’s day, catering to them and listening to their stories, which many were eager to share. It is amazing how slowing down and taking a brief moment to perform a simple act of kindness can have the potential of turning someone’s entire day around for the best (this can, unfortunately, also be said about spreading negativity).
This event was a great opportunity for me to help “pay it forward” while team-building and connecting with other like-minded SAP employees.
Thank you, SAP, for coordinating such a fulfilling event!!!
