Mark, founder of Hapinoy, has said something that hit me today all of a sudden: ‘I wish you guys had a 6 month sabbatical’.
It was kind of Mark to mention it like that as our discussions had been intense and at times mind-boggling, and I also started to agree. Every topic opens up another topic as the domain by itself is a very complex topic.Digesting this all and delivering something small and beautiful requires thorough synthesis of everything.
There are so many stakeholders, process contributors (especially on the external side), different systems, accounting steps, bank settlement steps, validations, reference numbers, transactions numbers, etc. It is complex and indeed a 6 month togetherness with Hapinoy would be great. Unfortunately this is not possible as then they would have to employ us full time and we would need to move to Manila 🙂
Joke aside, after a pretty technical session with one of the external expert colleagues of Mark, we came to an agreement on what deliverable we could put on the table for Hapinoy, and it was not easy.
- List of their future requirements that they can leverage going forward. We want to help the have a more disciplined approach in technology deployments.
- A logical enterprise architecture end-state.
- Enterprise architecture roadmap (some basic steps to take to put pieces of puzzle together to reach the ultimate architectural landscape)
- Some degree of prioritization map regarding their requirements (hot topics, warm topics, etc type of).
I have a hunch our relation with Hapinoy will need to continue even after the end of the sabbatical.
