As you may have read on SCN, 2014 was a busy year for the SAP Screen Personas ecosystem, including customers, partners, and the product development and support organizations. Based on the activity during early 2015, it looks like this year will be even more exciting. We are working on many new innovations to help you drive productivity through personalization. Here’s a quick overview of some of the things on our roadmap.

SAP Screen Personas 2.0 performance will get even better

With more and more customers going live, we are receiving great feedback on what people need to support their users with a simpler and more intuitive user experience for the classic SAP ERP transactions. We are finalizing a new Service Pack (SAP Screen Personas 2.0 SP3) that contains a new “slim state” option that looks very exciting; it will offer unprecedented performance improvement. We are planning to release this in 2015 Q1.

SAP Screen Personas 3.0 ramp-up is proceeding on schedule

The ramp-up program is continuing with customers around the world deploying the product across a variety of business scenarios. We are receiving extensive feedback, which the development team is integrating into the product and our testing processes. We already have a variety of SAP Screen Personas 3.0 training materials online with more coming. The release date is planned for after our ramp-up customers go live, to demonstrate that the product is sufficiently robust for general availability.

After that, we plan to release a service pack that will include support for Web Dynpro ABAP.

Then, we will start exploring some of the feature requests that customers have made either during ramp-up or at other times during the development process.

Rapid Deployment Solution (RDS) for SAP Screen Personas 3.0 will include some pre-packaged content

In addition to the core SAP Screen Personas 3.0 product, we are working on a rapid development solution (RDS). This will include significantly more content than the RDS for version 2. We plan to include pre-built Screen Personas content based on several standard business processes, such as Sales Order Processing, Quotation for Procurement, and Credit Management. The plan is to include a simplified flavor and a Fiori-style flavor for each of the transactions. These will be templates you can use as a starting point to simplify your transactions, as opposed to out of the box content you can instantly run in your enterprise. Plug and play is not really possible as each customer’s environment is different.

New training materials are coming

SAP Education just released their brand new 3-day SAP Screen Personas 3.0 class. This in-depth class covers the key topics you need to build simplified ERP screens and deploy them across your employee base. It includes extensive hands-on exercises to ensure you perform all the main functions associated with rolling out SAP Screen Personas.

  • Getting Started with Screen Personas 3.0 and Best Practices
  • Standard Editing Options in SAP Screen Personas 3.0
  • JavaScript Foundations
  • SAP Screen Personas 3.0 Basic Scripting
  • SAP Screen Personas 3.0 Administration

For the past few months, we have been building the content for a new SAP Screen Personas OpenSAP course. The 20+ units cover:

  • Product architecture
  • Screen simplification process
  • Building more intuitive screens (mostly how-to demos of all the basic functionality)
  • Scripting and troubleshooting (more demos of how to automate keystrokes)
  • System administration (managing users, flavors, and roles)
  • Optimizing performance

In addition to product development, we are working on several broader initiatives to ensure your experience with SAP Screen Personas complements all your other SAP user experience projects.

Expanding synergies with SAP Fiori UX

We continue to work with the entire user experience team to coordinate our product strategies and go-to-market plans. The ultimate goal is to allow you to Run Simple.

As SAP transitions Fiori from a collection of apps into the new SAP user experience, we are continuing to make it easier for customers to standardize on the Fiori UX by using SAP Screen Personas to modify their classic ERP transaction screens to fit this visual design.

ASUG UX SIG

Several SAP representatives have joined the leadership team of the ASUG UX SIG (American SAP User Group, User Experience Special Interest Group). We are preparing a webcast series and determining the content strategy for the year. To tell us what you want to hear about, please take this survey to share your opinions on a variety of user experience topics. Join this community.

We are planning a UX great program at the Annual Conference in conjunction with SAPPHIRE NOW, which takes place May 4-8, 2015 in Orlando, Florida. I’m looking forward to meeting many new customers at the event. We are planning to have an in-person meeting for members of the SAP Screen Personas practitioner forum, so please let me know if you will be attending SAPPHIRE NOW.

We are looking forward to a great year.
