IDC
MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the
competitive fitness of ICT suppliers in a given market. The research
methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative
and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of
each vendor’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures
vendor product, go-to-market and business execution in the short-term. The
Strategy score measures alignment of vendor strategies with customer
requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe. Vendor market share is represented by the
size of the circles. Vendor year-over-year growth rate relative to the given
market is indicated by a plus, neutral or minus next to the vendor name.

Here are a few thoughts about this interesting vendor assessment.

The criteria for the inclusion of vendors in the IDC MarketScape analyses are as follows:

  • Vendors must have
solutions for a minimum of four of the five major talent management functions
of recruiting, learning, performance management, career and succession
planning, and compensation in general release as of March 31, 2014.
  • Vendors must have a
minimum of 250,000 employees/users live on the performance management module,
which is part of the talent management suite, as of March 31, 2014.

Many different criteria are considered in the assessment to get a complete picture of the market and the vendors. IDC analysts tailor the range of standard characteristics by which vendors are measured through structured discussions, surveys, and interviews with market leaders, participants, and end users.

IDC interviewed SuccessFactors customers on their projects and usage of the SuccessFactors Performance & Goals solution to find out how satisfied they are with the product capabilities, usability, and adaptability. According to the report, SuccessFactors’ key strengths include market momentum, depth of
portfolio, and global reach, and SuccessFactors received praise from clients in the categories of features, technology, and reporting.

That is why we want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our customers and partners for trusting our solution and strategy, and for inspiring and challenging us. We are lucky to be able to count on a large number of satisfied customers to foster innovation in our solutions by providing feedback and working with us to deliver even better solutions release after release.
