SAP HANA Big Data Intelligence leverages event stream processing

Yesterday SAP announced the launch of a new rapid deployment solution:  SAP HANA Big Data Intelligence.  This new solution allows businesses to acquire, analyze and present data quickly and affordably from a variety of sources in order to evolve with changing market environments. It combines combines the SAP HANA platform, SAP Event Stream Processor, and optionally SAP IQ software and Hadoop and includes templates for a number of different business scenarios.  One of the scenarios is “Stream Intelligence” – which uses real-time web log analysis of number of visitors, pages viewed, and hits, as well as source browser, search engine, user demographic and geographic information to provide both real-time alerts and predictive analysis.

See the product page on SAP Service marketplace for more information.

      Hi Jeff,

Thanks indeed for the comprehensive post and PDF document regarding SAP HANA SP09 CEP capabilities. It is great news.

We are a system integration and Gold SAP Partner in the MENA region. We are checking options for a customer to integrate SCADA with SAP HANA in real time. Looking at your document, currently CEP / ESP capabilities do not include a native connector to SCADA (I have been told that ICCP is the communication protocol used by SCADA). Is this correct?

Alternatively, there is a section in your doc regarding PCo, where it clearly says it does integrate natively to SCADA. Sorry cause I am not familiar with PCo. Is this a specific software? I understand is not part of CEP/HANA SP09? If this is the case, what would be your suggestion to be able to deliver such integration for a customer with SAP HANA Enterprise?

Thanks very much for your input.

      Hi Xavier,

Yes,  ESP supports SCADA via PCo - which is part of SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence.  This article discusses how ESP integrates with MII.  Also, check out this excellent blog post from Sam Castro on the Internet of Things (Industrial Flavor).

Alternatively, if MII/PCo isn't the right fit, you always have the option of building custom adapters using the ESP Adapter Toolkit or SDK.
