Standards mode enablement of SAP UI technologies (>=IE9) – summary
For the most updated status of standards mode enablement please refer to PAM
With Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 (IE9), based on the layout engine Trident 5.0, IE introduced a new IE9 layout engine mode with a new and incompatible IFRAME handling, which separates the IE8 compatible document modes from the IE9 and higher compatible document modes.
Internet Explorer 9 and higher can mix only HTML code in one web document, which is compatible for the IE9-engine modes or for the IE8-engine modes.
If you want to run SAP web applications in the same window (such as SAP Clients like Portal or NWBC for html), the applications should run in the same document mode family as the portal.
For specific installed based UI technologies and releases SAP offers also standards mode rendering, see table:

Great Overview. Thanks!
details on SAP NetWeaver Business Client for HTML updated!
Hi Andreas, do you know if there's an update for BSP design2008, it says in your table that it's in-progress...
Thanks!
Hi Ricky,
No news so far - sorry!
Kind Regards, Andreas
Hi Andreas, it's been over a month now, I wonder if there's any update to the BSP design2008 already, we've been having a lot of compatibility issues with IE10.
Thanks,
Ricky
Hi Ricky,
No update yet - sorry!
Kind Regards, Andreas
Hi Andreas,
is there any news on HTMLB?
I can hardly wait for 12th of January 2016 when support will end for all Internet Explorer versions but 11. We would like to switch to standards mode AFP in our portal as soon as possible.
BUT: Those little portal facilitator tools like worksetmap and KM integration are still broken in standards mode. I see no alternatives to them. So our euphria is a little disturbed. When can we expect a solution?
Or perhaps Thomas Hensel can comment on this?
Thanks, Lutz
Hi Lutz,
Thanks for explaining your request and the importance for you! The work on standards mode for HTMLB is in progress. So far we can't give a timeline by when it will be available - sorry.
Kind Regards, Andreas
Hello Andreas,
Thanks for this summary!
It seems BSP is now supported in standards mode. Can you confirm?
2034934 - BSP: UR Standards Mode
Hi Fabricio,
It is ossible to create or adapt BSP applications for standards mode. Nevertheless, existing applications are not supported in general.
