READ ME: SAP Lumira 1.21

Hi Everyone

As you know SAP Lumira 1.21 is now on SMP.  Unfortunately there were a couple of issues on the data connection UI on Lumira Desktop that has caused confusions.  We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and we are looking for the earliest possible improvements.

1.  In some installations, selection to connect to Universe does not show up in the New Dataset dialog.

This is an UI issue caused by a stale cache. At this time it needs to be cleaned manually by deleting the configuration cache.

Please refer to SAP Knowledge Base 2109423 for the steps.

2. There is a string error in the New Dataset dialog for connectivity option for SAP BW (Business Warehouse). It is caused by a tool error at the last minute inserting an incorrect string. There is no functional changes with regards to Lumira support for BW in this release.

“Download from SAP Business Warehouse” should say “Connect to SAP Business Warehouse” as it has been in SAP Lumira 1.17-1.20.  This connectivity option allows you to connect to BEx Query of an InfoProvider and visualize the data.

Option to acquire data from SAP BW and mash up with another data is planned in 2015 and it will include ability to compose stories and share the story to a server.

Once again we apologize for the issues and we are looking into better addressing the problems at the earliest possible time.

Thank you.

Sharon

Sharon, when in 2015 will these functions be available?  Connecting directly to BW, mashing data, and sharing the result are features we can use to differentiate Lumira from Tableau and Spotfire. Thanks, Greg.

      Hi Sharan,

I have faced the similar problem of not able see the universe option when I try to create new dataset. It does not show in the dialog box at all in 1.21.

So, I have uninstalled the version 1.21 and installed 1.20 in which there is no such issue.

Are you saying if I install 1.21 again and manually delete the files in the folder "\Users\user\.sapvi\configuration" will work?

I will surely try this one let you know.

      Appreciate for your help.

      With regards,

      Hari

I have the situation that after opening a document in SAP Lumira 1.21 the UI is not displaying the prepare default view nor the visualization view. The UI stays in the document view. I see in the info row that the excel document is open and the information for nuber of rows and columns but the prepare or visualization view is not displayed. If I switch to the prepare view manually by using the menu (view/prepare) the UI is switching into the view but the view shows no data per column. I deleted the folder .sapvi but it is still not working.

      Hope the fix comes soon,

      Eric

I have an issue related to 3.x universes.  In previous versions, we were able to access these universes using LDAP authentication type.  However, since upgrading to 1.21, we now receive an error message related to secLDAP.  I still can use LDAP authentication on 4.x universes.  We CAN use 3.x universes, but only with Enterprise authentication.  Obviously, this is not a work around as we do not wish to set up Enterprsie accounts for those users still on 3.x.

      Please advise.
