How to implement Business Intelligence in 2 weeks – Rust-Oleum and RDS
Rust-Oleum, an SAP shop since 2000, wanted to leverage the power of BusinessObjects solutions for business intelligence reporting and visualization, and to implement it quickly, across all platforms, including mobile. The challenge for Rust-Oleum was not only how to get data visualization and insights quickly to their business users, but also understanding how, where and when to use the wide range of reporting and visualization options available in the BusinessObjects suite.
When Rust-Oleum looked at RDS, which was included in the underlying software license, it became clear that using the BI Adoption RDS would be the ideal approach. The rapid-deployment solution was designed to be easy to understand and implement, and ensure that the right BI tools, based on best practice, would be used in a variety of ways across all business units.
“RDS was a very simple solution for us to implement, it provided us with excellent documentation, which was simple enough for us to understand, and implement the solution. The benefit is – We were able to implement the project in a timely way, and understand the product the way it was intended to. And for business, we were able to generate the reports that enabled them to visualize the data, to help them analyze the data better.” Rathna Navin, Technology Lead, Rust-Oleum Corp
Rust-Oleum was able to implement the purchasing module in about two weeks, without consulting involvement or overtime, saving them months to just figure out which products to use. All of the accelerators and information they needed, including how to enable the mobile infrastructure, was part of the RDs package. Based on that success, they’re now moving forward with BI implementations across other lines of business.
“I would strongly recommend RDS if somebody is implementing a new solution. You will get the best practice approach, you’ll get the standard content available within it, and it is included in the licensing of the underlying product.”
