PowerDesigner Roadmap Webinar

Hi All,

I know that many of you have asked about a roadmap for PowerDesigner. We did publish the updated roadmap on SAP Service Marketplace in October 2014. The most current roadmap is available to customers through this link http://service.sap.com/saproadmaps and PowerDesigner is listed under the Database & Technology category.

Additionally, we will have a webinar covering the current PowerDesigner roadmap on January 13, 2015 from 9-10am PST. Please register using the following link. http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/012002523100019949392014E

Keep on modeling!

-Matt C.

      Hi Matt,

May I ask why the Visual Studio plug-in got axed? We were using Team Foundation Server for source control and made the mistake of upgrading to 16.5.4 only to find out it was no longer available. We've since downgraded back to 16.5 in order to continue using TFS.

      Thanks,

      Mark

      Hi,

Microsoft : Visual Studio add-ins are deprecated in Visual Studio 2013-2014-2015. You should upgrade your add-ins to VSPackage extensions.

      http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/xc52cke4.aspx

      SAP say about PowerDesigner

      • Supported Microsoft Visual Studio version
The PowerDesigner add-in can be installed under Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and 2010.
      • Visual Studio Team Foundation 2008 & 2010
Visual Studio Team Foundation 2008 & 2010 are not supported with PowerDesigner 15.x
      • Limitation of PowerDesigner Visual Studio plug-in
The New Model dialog for Visual Studio is different and does not support category customization.
The Customize Menus and Tools dialog is not available under Visual Studio. UI profiles (part of role-based UI) cannot be applied.
SAP Solution Manager Bridge may not properly work under Visual Studio plug-in.
SAP Hana Bridge may not properly work under Visual Studio plug-in.
New report interface does not work under Visual Studio plug-in.
      • Visual Studio Add-in deprecated
Visual Studio support add-in is deprecated with PowerDesigner 16.5 and will be removed from next release.

Do you want use VSPackage extensions?

      Hello Benoit,

What I want is to keep using TFS for source control. That was the only reason I had such and old version of VS installed to begin with. If future versions of PowerDesigner support VSPackage extensions and they allow me to keep using TFS I'd be happy to use them. I hope they support a more current version of VS.

      Thanks,

      Mark

      Hi Mark,

      That's what I thought.

As can be seen from reading the Readme file there were several limitations to the use of VB plug-in .We could suspecting that SAP could no longer continue to support VB plug-in.

Anyway this is not what you want. You want to be able to go to the new version of VB 2013-2014-2014 ... TSF.

I strongly suggest you to open a ticket with SAP to request support for TSF ... VB 2014-2015 wuth VSPackage extensions?

      Bye
