We, Labs India IT, take pride in enabling our customers with the latest and greatest technology. As part of continuous technology enhancement this year we have started rolling out Lync unified communication to replace our traditional telephony system. This was an exciting project bundled with lot of complexities and challenges. This milestone was achieved by extensive planning and coordination with various teams and service providers. The major achievement was to get legal approval from TRAI - Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and service providers. Due to the TRAI regulations we have to configure logical partition on Lync gateway to avoid PSTN calls flowing to IP network. With joint efforts from Global IT teams and HP we could successfully test all the scenarios and get required TRAI approval.
User migration was planned and executed in phases with parallel implementation across multiple offices within India (Bangalore, Pune & Gurgaon). As on date we have replaced desk phones with Lync and Lync supported devices for 94% of our colleagues. About 8,000 employees out of ~8,400 are migrated to Lync.
Last but not the least, no technology is useful unless the customers are brought up to speed. We made sure our employees gained sufficient knowledge about Lync usage through multiple info sessions.
Hard work never goes unappreciated. We have received over whelming appreciation and comments from our customers. Customers found this new collaboration technique extremely convenient and easy to use.
