The University Alliances North America team supported the successful launch of the collaboration among SAP University Alliances, Festo Didactic, and the Americas’ SAP Users’ Group during Festo’s North American launch event November 24th in Eatontown, New Jersey. Ann Rosenberg, vice president SAP University Alliances, had the privilege to present a keynote in which she shared SAP University Alliances’ enthusiastic support for an overall vision: to jointly drive Industry 4.0 to academia and ASUG members, and to train and qualify young talent for the future production world via the combined networks of faculty from Festo Didactic and SAP University Alliances.

The launch event included North American industry leaders, regional dignitaries, and Geoff Scott, President of ASUG. The audience heard about the re-industrialization of North America and that to meet the needs of companies that are “re-shoring” their high value manufacturing, there is a critical need for a workforce with skills in industrial automation. Building on this theme, participants in the University Alliances session learned how SAP is globally supporting a joint collaboration with Festo Didactic around Industry 4.0. Highlights include opportunities for faculty around the world to engage with this new initiative including through new Industry 4.0 curricula; engaging students in Industry 4.0 events, crowdsourcing, and research including with HANA Cloud Platform; and driving joint thought leadership with SAP, Festo, other industry partners, and leading academics.
