SAP BusinessObjects Analysis Edition for Office 2.0 is now in Ramp-up

Analysis Office 2.0 is now in ramp-up; the current GA version is 1.4

Here is the PAM and below are some key points:

Figure 1: Source: SAP

Figure 1 shows the preceding release is still supported for a year after the product goes GA

2fig.PNG

Figure 2: Source: SAP

Installer should point out what is missing and the link in the installer will point to it

Please note: No support of Office of versions lower than 2010

BW is supported as before

SAP HANA SP9 or higher

New Features

Figure 4

Table design is an important new feature; it is also known as “Dynamic grid”

When you insert a cross tab, if you insert a row or color style, it would have been lost with navigation/refresh

Now it keeps OLAP navigation and color/structure cross tab so it is extended to layout

This is first step; note that inserting text and formula in empty cells after refresh is not this first release.

This is more for formatting and inserting lines.

Property View is the third column in the Display panel.  It is an “Expert mode”

It allows users who are familiar with Analysis Office to assign several properties in one step

It is not introducing new properties but introduce properties in a visualization

It is similar to Query Designer

More to come – and I hope we learn more at BI 2015 next year

      Thanks Tammy for the update.

I am really thinking if this deserves 2.0 Version because it does not have many new features like we see in a major version of software. If there are not many new features , does it require a 6 month ramp-up period. I hope some one from SAP can tell us why such a long Ramp-Up period.

      Naveen,

Thank you for reading and commenting.

I think there are more features than what I have listed.  The dynamic grid is a big feature being delivered too.

Also remember SAP is planning an Excel "client convergence" - see Figure 8 BI on Excel Roadmap – an ASUG Webcast Update so this is a process.

I can't speak to the ramp-up period - it really just started and SAP will exit ramp-up based on meeting KPI's

Do you know whether A0 2.0 will work with AO 1.4 BIP add-on for scheduling? I was not able to find a AO 2.0 version of the BIP add-on.

      Hi Deepu Sasidharan,

There is no Separate BIP Add-on is required for AO 2.0(its not available)

Whatever latest release of 1.4 BIP Add-on(currently 1.4 SP10 BIP Add-on) for scheduling will work for AO 2.0 as well.

You can use it. No Problem 🙂

      Hi,

First of all. In my opinion, BO Analysis Office is the best product to come out of SAP BI for a long time. We use it a lot and everyone likes it. Large Swedish Telecom company.

      Two questions:

      1. Any news on Geo map integration? Such as MS BI has with their Bing Map integration.

      2. Any news on filtering options like slicer which exists in "normal" Excel. Filtering options when building Excel applications could be enhanced.

      Thanks

      Kenneth

Hi Kenneth - I have not heard on the two items you listed above. There are some ideas on this at Idea Place - SAP BusinessObjects Analysis edition for MS Office: Home

I encourage you to vote for the ideas there.

      This is good post.

I'm also interested to know whether we can connect to relational universes, webi reports.

      Dear Tammy,

Will AAO finally support turning on/of result row supression and element display (text or key) via macro API? This is a feature required for any sophisticated planning or dashboarding application, and in the current version it is not available.

      Thank you,

      Oliver

      Hi Tammy,

Do you know whether workbook broadcasting for NetWeaver version of AO is/will be supported by SAP?

I do not find much discussion about that topic.

I read somewhere that version 2.1 was due to ramp-up in May. I can't see any mention of it on the SAP Ramp-Up site.

We are about to start a program of migrating users from 1.4 to 2.x but I don't want to invest too much time and effort in creating user documentation / training and rolling out 2.0 if 2.1 will look significantly different. I also don't want to roll-out 2.0 if 2.1 offerers addition features...

So does anyone know when 2.1 ramp-up is due to start, or have I missed it? I noticed that the user and admin guides are already available for 2.1 in the Analytics Knowledge Center!

      Regards and thanks in advance,

      Stephen

Thanks for the reply. So do you know if I'm still able to get on the Ramp-Up for 2.1? I have never seen it listed in the ramp-up program...

      Thanks,

      Stephen

Thanks Subhash. Are you referring to the installation file being available in SAP market place or sign up to Ramp-Up being available?

I haven't signed up and can't see a sign up link in the ramp-up pages but I'm keen to join ramp-up.

Thanks again for your continued help!

Do you know when 2.1 will be released?

currently, adding excel formula or SAPGetData to sum 2 rows in new line after refresh is not supported in 2.0 right? the formula is gone after refresh.

      is it supported in 2.1?

I am trying to create an installation server for SAP BusinessObjects Analysis 2.0 edition for Microsoft Office. The installation zip file (51049248) does not contain an installation server.

Is there any file with installation server for Analysis for Office 2.0?

      Best Regards,

      Thanks Tammie for you reply.

I have created installation servers for earlier versions of Analysis for Office such as 1.4 to configure settings such as registry entries, BOESystems.xml,etc.

I am trying to do the same for Analysis for Office 2.0. The installation zip file (51049248) does not contain an installation server. I am wondering if there is a full installation zip file that contains installation server for 2.0.

It is not available; you will need to save your workbooks as 1.4.  Subhash has documents on this if you search SCN.

      Hi all,

I noticed 2.2 is also available.

But I cannot find any hardware&software requirements document for this version.

Is that the same requirements as for 2.0 ?

Jose, try removing office using the fixit and then reinstalling. That fixed it for me, and as Tammy said make sure to use the 2.2SP02 installer.

Here I was talking about the same problem.
