SAP Mentor Monday Webinar Design Thinking Roundtable

Dear community & friends,

those of you who have read my previous blog post about my work-experience in Shanghai “Design Thinking Roundtables: Bringing Curious Minds Together!” might remember the concept of the “Design Thinking Roundtable”. Reaching out to the community and encouraging the exchange of different work experiences, bringing people of different backgrounds & expertise together, even when only in a virtual setting, will be the goal of this webinar. Thus, I am very much looking forward to having another opportunity to discuss the value of Design Thinking for software solutions with everyone interested! The goal of these “DT-Roundtables” is to increase diversity, encourage ‘wild’ thinking, and – last but not least – have fruitful exchanges of ideas among friends.

The idea for this webinar emerged when I thought about ways to engage in the community and, as a new Mentor, encourage my fellow Mentor “newbies” to join me. The intention is to offer a forum to discuss interesting topics related to DT with internal and external participants and speakers outside of the daily work context. The ‘Mentor Monday Webinar’ provides a great platform to do so!

Design Thinking, as I’ve stated before, is no rocket science. BUT, when applied right, it is a problem-solving approach which encourages a way of tackling problems from different angles by putting the end-user in the center of investigation and using the brainpower of interdisciplinary teams in a creative space. Design Thinking and Scrum are common methodologies in the software development process. Where Design Thinking helps to define WHAT to develop to create innovative products with a maximum of customer value, Scrum provides a project management framework to define HOW to implement that product in a given time frame with continuous customer involvement.

I would like to encourage everyone in the community to engage in the conversation about DT for better software solutions- and I would be very happy to see several of my fellow ‘new’ SAP Mentors join me!

If I haven’t yet approached you personally, please PM me if you are interested in co-moderating the discussion! Please note that Julien Delvat will also join to introduce the hour of code happening December 8th to 14th.

I very much look forward to a fruitful design_thinking SAP Mentor Monday Webinar with all of you! Thank you Twan van den Broek for being my Scrum Expert and co-moderator tonight!

Thanks Julia, Twan, Julien, and everyone else speaking up or commenting this great webinar and discussion. Link to Design Thinking + Hour of Code with Julia Dorbic, Twan Van Den Broek Julien Delvat recording. Loved Chis Rea's way to get IT to deeper engage with the customer at about minute 50.
