SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service, Cloud Edition, Available as of Today!

Imagine a production manager who has to wait until an asset fails or its performance degrades before repairing or replacing it – valuable time is lost. That production manager wants to know that an asset is in need of service before it fails, so the maintenance can be scheduled at the right time and the downtime can be minimized or avoided altogether.

The world is increasingly interconnected. This provides manufacturers and owners of enterprise assets the opportunity to run new business models which have not been possible before. By integrating sensor data from the physical asset into a closed-loop maintenance and service business, companies will be able to reduce maintenance costs and unplanned downtimes.

We listen to our customers’ need and we are glad to officially announce the availability (as of November 11 – see Press Release) of a new SAP solution for the Internet of Things (IoT): SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service Solution, Cloud Edition

This new solution can help organizations maintain full visibility into current asset health and predict future asset health by monitoring and analyzing Big Data with in- memory computing on the SAP HANA platform. It remotely senses machine and equipment behavior, predicts machine and equipment malfunctions and optimizes maintenance and service processes and automates operations.

By moving from reactive to predictive maintenance and service, companies can increase asset availability and raise profits and satisfaction levels.

      Hi Frank,

      Thank you for your interest.

It’s a cloud/subscription based price model. The metrics are based on the # of devices
and the # of measuring points in the system which impacts the HANA and storage size for historic data.

      Best regards, Gaby

        Hi Gaby,

thank you very much for your answer.

One additional question: Do we need a HANA cloud instance in order to use it or can we use it together with an existing HANA On-Premise solution?

        Kind regards

        Frank

          Hi Frank,

Predictive Maintenance and Service is provided as a cloud offering, which means that HANA and all other Technology components including the solution is offered as a service (SaaS). No need to
install a big data architecture in your data centers.

The alternative is to install HANA and the required technology components on-premise and then build a custom IoT application with SAP’s Custom Development organization.

          Best regards,

          Gaby
