SAP TechEd/d-code are fast approaching and it's time to recognize the third of our pre-TechEd HDEs, sreehari.vpillai. Sreehari writes about some particularly interesting and different topics, like How to make a SAPUI5 Panel looks like a tile and Transferring complex structured data from UI to XSJS - POSTing JSON. Please Welcome Sreehari to the HDE community!

Tell us a little around your background in the industry

I hav around 3 and a half years of experience in IT industry; out of that, near to 3 years in SAP. I worked in Java and sharepoint initially and then moved to SAP ABAP developer. I was part of couple of ECCC implementations and then moved to growth technologies like SAP HANA, Netweaver gateway and SAPUI5. I am leading the SAP HANA and SAPUI5 technical practice in Wipro Infotech.

How did you get into the SAP HANA space?

It was purely on my interest to learn database related technologies like HANA. From my college time itself I started exploring databases and web related tecchnologies. I got certified in IBM DB2 , in my Engineering. It helped me to explore and learn HANA a lot. Being part of CoE team, it was important to understand and build practice on growth technologies.

What advice would you give to people looking to learn SAP HANA?

SAP HANA is a simply awesome technology which will be the game player for the future. Learning SAP HANA will be easy, if you dedicatedly collaborate with SCN members and attend openSAP free online courses.

Can you tell us a little about the projects you are working on right now?

I am working in a ERP implementation on HANA, and the customer name is Al-Khozama.We successfully implemented ERP on HANA for Bhutan Telecom Ltd. Parallally, I am working in multiple HANA PoCs including BW on HANA, ERP on HANA.I am conducting multiple trainings on SAP HANA and SAPUI5 for the internal team as a part of practise building activities

Tell us about one of your HANA war wounds!

I didnt face much issues in implementing HANA in our projects. SCN buddies were there all the time to help me solve the issues .

What do you see in the future of HANA?

I believe HANA will replace most of its competitors in the near future;Which will open mosre opportunities for the HANA folks in the market as well.I am seeing HANA as a next genertaion technolgy.

If there was one change you could make to HANA, what would it be?

I would like to add one feature in the SQL engine, to invoke xsjs function- as an exit or a break out.

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of HANA and work

I like to read a lot. I spend my leasure time in reading books, especially novels and journels. Apart from that, I would say I am a family man
