Understanding SAP Lumira from BI Admin Perspective

This was from a webcast SAP gave this past week.  The usual disclaimer applies that things in the future are subject to change.

Note there was so much information provided that some of the slides do not contact detailed notes.

Figure 1 is an overview of the options with Lumira – cloud, service, and desktop.

Figure 2 suggests covers the prerequisites

The speaker said the “Publish” feature is in restricted shipment (to BI platform)

Save the Lumira Story under the Mobile category to see it in mobile.

Mobile BI has connections to Server, Cloud

Figure 4 shows the architecture with Lumira Desktop, the latest service pack of BI4.1, to install Lumira server add-on and “push data into HANA”

Figure 5 shows the flow of publishing a story to the BI platform.  First, logon to Lumira Desktop, then it use Lumira add-on server to pushes data to HANA.

Then info object is created for the data set and story

BI admins could monitor BI dataset

Could publish story via RESTful web services

The SAP speaker said there is no user replication; it is just connecting to HANA

Control is through the Central Management Console CMC settings
