At SUSECon next month, Brian LaRose, Business Solutions Architect at VMware, will present a technical tutorial on blueprinting and provisioning SAP using vRealize Automation and vCloud Application Director. The demo will use SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP3 for  SAP Applications as the base operating system.

After a brief introduction on SAP with regards to vCloud Application Director and vRealize Automation, Brian will run through a demonstration of the available SAP blueprints. vCloud Application Director provides the canvas for drawing simple pictures and relationships on a screen, connecting the logical functions with dependencies, allowing tuning and overriding of configurations and parameters and even allowing checkpoint intervals along the build. Using these templates (or blueprints) delivers 100% repeatable deployments into a resource pool.

vRealize Automation also supports multiple deployment targets including private instance, Amazon EC2 or hybrid. Once you see the blueprinting, provisioning and advanced design and deployment capabilities of vRealize Automation and vCloud Application Director, you won’t be satisfied kickstarting just one virtual machine instance of SAP ever again.

Users, developers, and system administrators from around the world will converge at SUSECon in Orlando, Florida during the week of November 17-21. Keynotes, workshops, breakout sessions and a hands-on technology showcase will inform attendees about the latest innovations and trends in the global SUSE Enterprise community. This tutorial is a good example of the exceptional technical content available at SUSECon 2014.
