Troubleshooting ABAP Post-Copy Automation

Hi all,

In this blog, I want to give a short overview of the recommended steps to perform in case you are facing issues with the execution of ABAP Post-Copy Automation – hopefully, this will help you to solve minor issues directly and will also ensure a fast message processing in case you would have to raise an incident.

  1. Make sure you performed the automated configuration as described in the respective documentation, such as:
  2. You check relevant SAP Notes, such as:
    • 1614266 – System Copy: Post-Copy Automation (PCA) / LVM
    • 1709155 – System Provisioning with SAP Landscape Virtualization Management
    • 1707321 – BW System Copy: Post Copy Automation (BW-PCA)
  3. You check available Frequently Asked Questions, such as:
  4. You check the ABAP PCA troubleshooting page in SAP Community Network for documented issues and best practices.
  5. You check the Post-Copy Automation page in SAP Community Network for further information or documents.
  6. Only if the steps above did not help (or in case you are facing an urgent issue), you raise an incident for ABAP Post-Copy Automation by using the SAP Incident Wizard:

      Hi Boris,

Thanks for providing one placeholder for all PCA reference docs...Awesome work.

Just wondering if we can use PCA tool for Post system copy delta loads catch up where source and target BW systems SIDs can be same or its mandatory to have different SIDs to play with PCA tool? We are building one copy on Cloud platform with same BW SID and planning to use PCA for delta load catch up before go-live.

      Thank you,

      Hello Amit,

technically with PCA this is possible.

However, please be aware that there can be many negative side effects if you have two SAP systems with the same SID in the same environment.

      Best Regards
