Analyzing LBD Transportation delay

In-order to fulfill the country’s fuel requirement, the fuel products are being imported as crude oil or finished products. Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela oil installations are responsible for the storage and distribution of these refined and finished products. The oil installations are being replenished by the tankers and the CPC Sapugaskanda Refinery. Lanka Bulk Depots (LBD) have been established island wide, in-order to supply the demand of the country’s fuel requirement. The bulk depots are being replenished by the above mentioned oil installation by Rail (Wagon) and Road (Hired and CPC bowsers).

So I’m going to analyze the transportation delay during the period April 2010 to March 2010. Here is my data set. Data based on the Kolonnawa oil installation.

Radar chart based on the data set.

Seems to be most of the LDBs have at least two days delay during the analyzing period.

If Bulk Depots are located in far away from oil installation, then again it can be delay can be happened due to road/rail traffic. When I see the above two graphs again I can see that Kankesanthurai BD is far away from main installation and Kotagala, Haputhale and Galle are closer to main installation. But stile these BDs are having less transportation delay compare to others Anuradapura and Mathara. Anuradapura BD is having the heights transportation delay, and it’s little bit far away from main installation. Even though Haputhale and Badulla BDs not much far away from main installation, due to its geo location can assume transportation delay. But still delay has been control up to some level.

Even though lorries has been arrived on time, if the Tanks cannot be utilized then fuel cannot be discharge. So the delay might be happened. But when I see the above two graphs I can see that Kankesanthurai BD is having big Tanks and Kotagala and Haputhale are having small Tanks. But stile these BDs are having less delay compare to others. Anuradapura BD is the heights transportation delay, but still it’s having enough capacity to carry products. So it’s very difficult to clarify the transportation delay with respect to Tank capacity.

So what could be the real reason for the transpiration delay? It’s has to be further analyze to get a correct image. Anyway it can nicely interpret data using SAP Lumaria. That’s what I want to let you all know
