By the other hand, if the company has disposal facilities, it assumes the cost or profit of the waste treatment.

Has its own specification category ‘Waste code’ and specification type ‘WASTECODE’, a specification has only the following information, the identifiers:
- Waste catalog – EWC in Europe.

The Waste
Each waste in SAP EHS is a combination of:
- Material.
- Specification.
Material
As material, a waste is a non-value material, material type ABF. Is a good recommendation use this material type to separate waste from the rest of the materials.
It contains all the data related with its logistic process:
- Basic data.

- General Plant Data / Storage.
- Warehouse Management.
- Quality Management.
- Accounting.
- Dangerous Goods.
Specification
It contains the data that characterize the waste
- Physical-chemical properties.
- Regulations.
- Composition.
- Measures.

The partners
The genera
There are four main types of partners:
- Producer
- Disposer
- Transporter
- Authority
Producer
The part of a company that generate wastes, usually corresponds with aplant, a storage location in plant, a CO object,….
For cost control all producer must have an account assignment.
The producers can be sorted hierarchically, and for legal reasons, at least the upper one must have an authorization number. Producers in the lower part of the hierarchy can inherit this authorization number. And remember that an authorizarion number always has a validity area, because is related to a regional or supraregional legislation. The authorization number is what identifies that a part of the company is allowed to generate one or several types of waste.
A producter can need sometimes a license for the treatment of some wastes.
A producer must have an address.
Disposer
The responsible of eliminate the waste, if is part of the company can be assigned to a plant, a storage location in a plant, a CO object,…, and if is other company the only scenario covered by the standard SAP is that the disposer is a vendor.
As with the producer, the disposer must have an authorization number, this identifies as a authorized waste disposer, and can be sorted hierarchically.
A disposer must have an address.
Transporter
The responsible of the transport of the wastr from the producer to the disposer.
As the previous partners must have an authorization number.
A transporter must have an address.
And if the transported wastes are considered dangerous goods may need some kind of license.
Authority
this partner is required only if you need to put information about the authority in the waste manifest, this is the “printed” form of the disposal document.

Production
All the waste generated
by a producer.
Here you can inform:
- How often is generated the waste and in which quantity.
- Who is the contact person.
- The center and storage location if you are using Inventory Management.
- A condition type, for example, the waste must be monitored.
- The day of last check and the person who do it.
- Why the generation of the waste can’t
- be avoided.
Disposal
All the waste managed by a disposer.
Here you can inform:
- How often is delivered the waste to the disposer and in which quantity.
- Who is the contact person.
- Recoverability or disposal of the waste (Disposal type).
- Disposal methods (subdivide disposal type)
- Disposal procedures or process codes (Subdivide disposal methods)
- The waste number for this partner (when is an external).
- Minimum notice period to inform the disposer.
Transport
All the waste transported by a transporter.
Here you can inform:
- How often is transported the waste and in which quantity.
- Who is the contact person.
- The waste number for this partner (when is an external).
Disposal Channel
In the link between production and disposal, or between producer, disposer and waste.
Here you can inform:
- Purchase document – the contract (supported by standard).
- Sales document – the contract (not supported by standard).
Waste Approval
One of the cornerstones in waste management, is the waste approval, which is the ‘enviromental’ contract.
Here you can find:
- The quantity and period in which the company are allowed to deliver a waste to a disposer.
- The partners involved in the process. They can be informed here or be inherited from disposal channel.
- The waste code, this is always decided by the disposer, because each waste needs to be analyzed before the disposal process, to ensure that is the right waste, and isn’t going to ruin the disposal facilities. The type of disposal, the disposal method and process code, and the authorized quantity.
- The validity period, the dangerous goods regulation to apply.
- The contract (Purchase or Sales).
