After the most temperate and enjoyable East Coast summer that anyone can recall, the changing colors of fall will soon be upon us. In New York City, October is arguably the most beautiful month of the year and baseball playoffs, Halloween and the premier Financial Services event of the year are all almost here.

It remains to be seen if the Yankees will again be making October history, but what you can be sure of is that from October 21-22, 2014 there will be an extraordinary event of high-level networking and knowledge sharing at the SAP Financial Services Forum New York City.

One of the big questions that will be addressed this year is What’s driving the trend towards finance and risk integration and how can it be accomplished while simultaneously innovating?

In fact, the forum will illuminate breakthrough technologies that are leading the way to better management of finance and risks, improved customer service, and reduced costs and complexities. After all, as SAP CEO Bill McDermott’s mantra this year suggests, “We can’t let complexity win.”

To reduce complexity within an organization it must follow the principal of “Run simple.” Risk and compliance data must be accurate, and the forum will feature a panel event on just how to accomplish that simply and effectively.

The discussion will be followed by a breakout session lead by writers for “The Economist” around financial services and Big Data.

The financial crisis of 2008 will not soon be forgotten, nor does anyone wish to repeat it. So fittingly there will be a microforum entitled-Lessons Learned: How Banks are Delivering Finance Transformation and Financial Risk & Regulatory Intelligence. It may be a mouthful, but as we’ve learned, there’s nothing more important then making sure a crisis like that never happens again.

Here’s what else to expect in 2014:

  • Get inspired by visionary keynote addresses from industry experts
  • Experience executive-level content and sessions across banking and capital markets topics
  • Interact with leading industry executives to hear how they’ve gained a competitive advantage
  • Attend breakout sessions covering distinct challenges within your industry
  • Network with peers in roundtable discussions and social settings.
  • Engage with the SAP ecosystem and partners to leverage extensions and additional services

Other finance and integrated risk discussions will center on solvency and liquidity and the regulatory agenda. Speaking of agenda, if you believe that technology enables the changes your business models need to succeed, than allow me to suggest that you put the SAP Financial Services Forum New York City on your October agenda today.
