How can Event Stream Processing enhance industrial control systems?

Read Sam Castro’s excellent blog post on this topic over in the MII space. Sam makes the point that industrial systems typically produce huge amounts of streaming data, which is often just collected – leaving the task of sifting through it to find anomalies.  But by using MII, SAP HANA and ESP together it’s possible to add a layer of intelligence to spot those anomalies.  I like his analogy for event stream processing, and how it let’s you combine several pieced of information to draw a conclusion.  So for anyone wonder about the applicability of event stream processing in monitoring industrial systems…have a read.  And for those of you in the ESP community that are wondering how to get that machine data  into ESP, as we’ve mentioned before, PCo (plant connectivity, part of the MII product suite) collects the data from the SCADA systems and now had built-in ESP connectivity.
