This year’s SuccessConnect will deliver an esteemed group of customers, partners and our own experts. Please attend our sessions where you will listen to their stories and leave with valuable insights from experienced folks about Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll and Integration of Employee Central with SAP HCM.

It’s not easy producing 10 breakout sessions.  Such a pleasure working with all the speakers,  I will be attending every one of the sessions listed below, immediately after a 2 week vacation in Italy. So..if I look tired.. it’s not because I stayed out all night playing penny slots.  🙂


Here is a list of the sessions, my comments at the end of each session are my own..

Speaker: Marc Farrugia is the Director of Human Resources at Sun Communities. Since joining Sun’s team in 2011, he’s spent much of his time evaluating various HR systems to create efficiencies and automate the HR team’s functions. — Marc’s presentations are always interesting.  He’s a real power user so he’ll tell you straight up what his experience is.  – keeping it honest in Vegas.

SuccessFactors Employee Central core HR: Learn about the latest features

Learn about the latest enhancements and new features in Employee Central Core HR. We will cover key new features since the last SuccessConnect conference. This session will showcase some of the latest enhancements and solutions, including the Employee Central Service Center—a new solution that delivers ultimate efficiency in managing your HR service support needs.

Speaker: Murali Mazhavanchery is the Senior Director of Product Management at SuccessFactors for Employee Central.   He is very involved with the development and direction of Employee Central providing expert guidance to the Product Management teams with his expertise of over 20 years of experience in the HRMS.  – Murali is always in the know with Employee Central. His sessions are always jam-packed because it’s full of visual examples & demos of key features within Employee Central,

Is SuccessFactors Employee Central Ready for Prime Time? Answer: Yes.

SuccessFactors Employee Central has come a long way since SAP purchased SuccessFactors 25 months ago and developed and deployed an aggressive road map. This session describes the validity and effectiveness of the Employee Central solution. Learn more through one of SuccessFactors’ customer case studies: a massive Employee Central implementation that reaches across more than 10 departments at a conglomerate in retail services.


Speaker:  Michael J. Brown, HCL, Vice President and Global HCM Leader.  Michael has more than 25 years of consulting experience across a range of industries where he has specialized in providing transformational business solutions that deliver value for clients.  – I’m really looking forward to this session, particularly impressed with the collaborative teamwork involved across their organization to produce this educational session.


Session #4.A:

CSM Bakery Solutions: Choosing SuccessFactors Employee Central to support core HR needs today and tomorrow

Hear how the leadership team at CSM Bakery Solutions, a global leader in bakery products, conducted a thorough search and took the bold step to replace the company’s26 disparate HCM systems with a single solution. You’ll learn how CSM Bakery Solutions chose SuccessFactors Employee Central as the core HCM system and the ways CSM Bakery Solutions integrated Employee Central with other systems.


Speakers: William J. Kelly and Jans Kerremans, HR executives at CSM Bakery with over 50 years combined HR industry experience.  – So often I hear from potential customers the desire to replace their disparate systems, this is a great opportunity to hear how an Employee Central customer company did it.


Session #4.B:

Global deployments and data migration synchronization: Best Practices for SuccessFactors Employee Central and SAP Payroll

Implementing a human capital management (HCM) system becomes inherently more complex when the project involves global deployments and data migration. This session will present important considerations for a global HCM deployment that requires synchronized data migration from an existing SAP system. Learn how to avoid preventable mistakes by hearing about the key best practices that IBM applies to enable successful outcomes.


Speaker: Michael Francis, Sr. Managing Consultant, IBM. Michael has over sixteen years of professional consulting experience implementing HCM solutions, mainly focused on SAP solutions. His area of expertise is in the migration and integration of data from disparate systems. He has successfully implemented five large data migration and integration projects, currently completing a cloud SuccessFactors to on premise SAP payroll project.  – This is a great session for those who want to know how the experts do migration & integration. 

Session #5:  Timken: Driving Global Workforce Efficiency with SuccessFactors HCM Solutions

Timken, a global industrial technology leader, needed to more effectively manage its workforce of approximately 16,600 associates across 28 countries, increase productivity, and lower the TCO of its HR systems. Working with Accenture, Timken implemented cloud solutions to support its HR department. In this session, learn how the SuccessFactors HCM Suite including Employee Central helped Timken simplify its HR processes, drive HR efficiency, and optimize the company’s operations.

Speakers: Robert D. Arbogast is the executive in charge of the global implementation of HR cloud solutions by SuccessFactors, an SAP Company, for The Timken Company. Prior to implementation, Mr. Arbogast was responsible for the development of the enterprise’s HCM transformation strategy and roadmap. – I met Rob over a year ago at a SuccessFactors event. He was knee deep in implementation of Employee Central at that time. Wow, time flies and it’s an honor to have him on the stage to share his story. 

Session #6:  The future of the total workforce

For decades, HR has focused on employees. But today, your top talent might not be on your payroll, and your biggest legal risks may lurk in the contingent workforce. Globalization and changing workforce demographics mean that HR can no longer focus on just the people on the payroll. This session will explore SAP’s strategy for the total workforce, explaining why SAP acquired Fieldglass and what’s ahead for total workforce management.

Speaker:  Thomas Otter is the Vice President of Product Management for Employee Central at SuccessFactors, an SAP Company. Formerly, he was a Research Vice President at Gartner covering HCM technology and lead analyst on SAP from 2009 to 2011.  He has a strong background in HCM trends and technologies, including core HR, payroll, talent management, and workforce analytics.— Always engaging, sometimes irreverent, interesting points presented, need I say more?

Session #7

Amplifying value to human resources through integration

Integration brings together products from across the cloud to deliver best-of-breed experiences. For essential HR functions such as benefits, payroll, time and attendance, and other value-added-services, HR leaders make choices that best suit their organizations’ needs. This session will review the cloud deployment model for the SuccessFactors HCM Suite and the value derived from integration.


Speaker:  Yamini Polisetty, Senior Product Manager, SuccessFactors Platform Integration.  Yamini is responsible for integration between SuccessFactors Talent Suite and 3rd Party Cloud Products. She also manages their integration with other SAP On-premise products. – Come learn about current and planned integrations in this session.


Session #8:

Employee Central integrations using Boomi: Implementation considerations

This session will provide a brief introduction to the Integration Landscape comprising of SuccessFactors Employee Central and External Systems using Boomi as the Middleware Layer. The Presentation will focus on Implementation Considerations and delve into the various stages of an Integration implementation focusing on some of the key activities and watch outs during each phase.  


Speaker: Venkatesan  Iyengar, Senior Manager, Solution Architect / Delivery Lead SAP HCM – Success Factors, Accenture.  Venkat has spent the last 15 years implementing and supporting SAP HCM for various clients across multiple geographies. – For those who are considering integrating Employee Central with external systems.

Session #9:

HR Path: Improving HR with SuccessFactors Employee Central and Employee Central payroll

Discover how HR Path supported on of North America’s largest industrial distributors to strategically replace their existing On Premise JD Edwards Oracle HR with Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll.


Speaker:  Julie Delatorre, Director of Consulting and Senior Consultant HR-Path.  Julie has over 15 years of SAP EcoSystem experience implementing SAP HCM Systems and SuccessFactors modules, including Hybrid OnPremise‐Cloud.  – Here’s a great information session that covers Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll.
