I ‘hope you’ll find this blog useful 🙂
I ‘was looking a while to find a solution to run the SAP Hana Studio on my Mac without any emulators. The Solution is simple:
Short:
- Download Eclipse Kepler 4.3 – 64Bit (eclipse-standard-kepler-SR2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64)
- Change the Eclipse Compiler & JRE Settings to Java 1.6! It will not work with 1.7 or any OpenJDK version.
- Open Eclipse->Help->Install New Software->Add:
- Location: https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler Name: HANA
- Install: HANA Components & UI5 Packages by following the wizzards

Hi Tobias,
I do appreciate that you want to share your own experience with the broader SCN community, trying to help out others.
That said, as far as I can see you’ve done the exact same thing as first Milan Boruvka and later Ian Henry have already done, here and here respectively. So a simple search on SCN (or Google) should have eliminated the need for this duplicate blog post.
For next time, please first do a good search for the content you’re going to write about, and if it’s already out here, please refrain from repeating it.
Looking forward to unique content from you!
BR, Fred
Hi Tobias,
2 things:
1) this was already described by several people, for example: How to install HANA Studio on Mac OSX using an Update Site
2) as of rev82, this is no longer necessary, since there is a native MacOS studio installer.
Best,
Henrique.
