Meet Kyle here:

Tell us about your session:

My session at d-code is titled: Migrating ABAP, Java, and Dual Stack Systems from RHEL4 to RHEL6. It is session number TEC206.

The abstract is: This session describes how Union Pacific Railroad handled migrating it’s SAP footprint between versions of Linux and new server hardware without the need to reinstall application server instances.

What do you hope attendees will take away from this session?

A blueprint for successfully migrating either an ABAP, Java, or DUAL stack SAP system from older Linux installations to an up to date OS platform without the need to reinstall the app. This session also covers the method utilized at Union Pacific Railroad to not only upgrade to the latest Linux installation but also migrate from legacy hardware to newer or even virtualized servers.

Please tell us about yourself:

I have been working at Union Pacific Railroad for the past ten years. I started in the railroad’s help desk as a support analyst out of college. I then moved on to support UP’s data center, specifically in the mainframe and distributed environments. For the past 4 years I have been supporting the SAP landscape here at UP as a Basis and PI administrator.

What do you do in your free time?

Spending time with my wife, son, and future son due in September. I also enjoy jumping out of perfectly good airplanes as the saying goes or rather skydiving!

Wow, jumping!  Kyle also says reading the meet the speaker blog series makes him want to attend some of the sessions (success)!
