June was an exciting month for us here in General Mills, as we, on the 18th 19th and 20th of this month hosted the first ever series of CodeJam sessions in Mumbai.
It was indeed a time where we learnt, questioned, networked and jammed with code.
CodeJam event proved true to its tag line ‘CodeJam – where geeks learn best’ in a casual and fun environment.
The audiences themselves were rich in experience and quite diversified. This helped the CodeJam sessions as they turned out to be more interactive.
The CodeJam format followed :
Ø Numbers of participants were around 31 each day, an appropriate number to form groups which proved good for discussions.
Ø SAP provided system logins and had their agenda (topics to be covered) fixed, but the time spent on each topic could vary depending on the discussions and interest levels.
Ø SAP had exercises planned on each of the topics which the participants could use as guidelines to explore and deep dive into the topic of the day.
This CodeJam series meant :
540 Total man-hours of Learn, Network and fun
3 Days (6 hrs. each) – 3 Topics,
4 SAP Experts,
31 Average attendees per session,
And a scrumptious lunch everyday
The topics for the three days were SAP UI5, ABAP on Eclipse and ABAP on HANA, all are the latest SAP technologies in market and the popularity with the topics was even more evident when all the seats were sold out in the first few days of opening the registrations.
The sessions in many ways showed us innovation and how technology is changing in and around SAP. They helped us understand what to anticipate in the near future and make you ready for it.
Another interesting fact was participants flying down from Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad to attend the event which showed how popular the format of CodeJam is along with the enthusiasm within the developer community to increase knowledge on these topics.

CodeJam is an excellent platform to involve the Developer community in the latest technological developments of the SAP so that they are easily adopted and to convert the developers into advocates of these technologies.
