Quick Check List of Technical Prerequisites for Business Process Change Analyzer (BPCA) and Test Scope Optimization (TSO)
BPCA and TSO in Outlook
The Business Process Change Analyzer is a standard SAP Solution Manager 7.1 functionality aimed to identify impact of planned changes on live environments (systems); and to define the test scope from different perspective e.g. business process priority or criticality. It is used for change impact analysis and allows to do a risk based test planning and execution. BPCA is a part of the End to End Integration Testing standard for SAP Solutions. The Business Process Change Analyzer compares the objects in transports to the objects in TBOMs (Technical Bill of Material) of the target (production) system. Since every TBOM is assigned to an executable entity (e.g. transactions, programs, WebDynpro application etc.) in a scenario, business process or process step, you can determine which parts of Business Process Hierarchy are affected by the change and the same due for testing.
You can use the test cases information to create scenario-based test plans that are tailored to the relevant changes.
With the Business Process Change Analyzer, you can:

There is number of very good documentation (how-to guides and Best Practice documents) explaining the aim of BPCA in details and how to setup and use this application. The documents can be found in:
Quick Check List of Technical Prerequisites for BPCA
The table below summarizes the action items necessary to technically enable the BPCA and TSO functionalities. The actions can be distributed among your IT teams to streamline the work and ensure all perquisites are correctly implemented to use those BPCA applications:

| Implement technical prerequisites for TBOM creation and BPCA described in SAP Notes 1316524 and 1595424 | SolMan/ Managed | SolMan Admin/ Managed System Admin | SAP Note 1316524 and 1595424 | |
d | (Optional) Verify/update Kernel patch level on your managed systems based on SAP Note 1595424 (for TBOM creation by TAO) | Managed | Managed System Admin | Based on SAP Note 1595424 the following minimum Kernel patch level is required for certain SAP Kernel releases: o 700: Patch Level 264 or higher o 701: Patch Level 116 or higher o 720: No Minimum Patch level required.
e | Verify managed system readiness to create TBOM by background jobs | Managed | Managed System Admin | To record TBOMs of executables that plan background jobs, the Solution Manager 7.1 must be Support Package 05 or higher AND the managed systems must meet the following prerequisites: 1. SAP_BASIS 702 Support Package 11 or higher 2. ST-PI 2008_1_XX Support Package 06 or higher 3. SAP KERNEL 720 PL200 or higher. See Note 1684704
7 | Adjust the authorization profiles of communication users on ALL managed systems based on SAP Note 1572183 | Managed | Security | Managed systems must be connected via RFC connections which have to be setup correctly as described in Note 1572183. If you use 7.1 SP09 or higher, use SAP Note 1830640.
