This week, as Experience SAP Centre Manager, I’ve had a trial run of Earth Runs SAP. I was told to expect a physical, emotional and digital experience and I wasn’t disappointed. From the start, I found myself caught in a simulation of Typhoon Haiyan that devastated the Philippines in 2010. The experience was incredible and it got me asking questions of myself. One in particular stood out – could I cope in the face of such adversity? I still don’t know, but I did learn how one aid charity is using our solutions in innovative ways to tackle such emergencies, execute rescue plans and empower those who were affected and transform lives.

I also learned more about the world’s exploding populations. For example, did you know population in Mumbai is set to grow from 14 million people today, to over 28 million by 2020, making it one of the most populous cities on Earth? Imagine the pressures on housing, utilities, hospitals and emergency services. Managing the increased demand is a mammoth operation and one of the reasons the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai is using our innovative technology to turn its city into a megacity.
