Hi Community,

Feeling excited yet again for coming up with my experience of SAP Code JAM event conducted on 31st May ,Hyderabad  India , details of which follows .

SAP Code Jam – Is this a seminar /workshop?

This is the first question that comes up in everybody’s mind from the name initially.  No, it aint a seminar nor a workshop.

It’s a HANDS-ON Get-together of local (not anymore ,as I travelled from a diff. city Bangalore) community members on the latest/hot SAP technologies

in their personal laptops ( that’s the best point ) .

Register for SAP Code Jam event:

Following the SCN/Social Media page and being in contact with the local community members/mentors can work out to get the required information for registration for the event.

Please note that these kind of events have limited seats (based on FCFS) as things such as seats, Access SAP ids  , food….. needs to be arranged in advance, so enthusiast community members please register as soon as you get the information to avoid any last minute hassle .

And the Event Day Begins ( May 31st ,2014 TCS Hyderabad ):-

By 11 in the morning we got almost all participants ready with their laptops in the venue with all connectivity and access setup.

We had 4 members from SAP Labs Bangalore (vijayakumar.udayakumar ,ranju.gupta, adarsh.kesarwani & padmashree.b ) as the presenters with us .

We had a brief introduction of HANA and there was no specific agenda for the day as participant were to run the day with interactive questionnaires.

Topics discussed:-

  • HANA Overview
  • BW on HANA Overview
  • How BW will run on HANA database
  • Benefits of using HANA

Prior to the 30 minutes odd theory discussion we quickly jumped into the Hands-on part where we created and connected the new SAP BW 7.4 objects on HANA

  • Transient Provider
  • Composite Provider
  • Virtual Info providers
  • Creation DB connect
  • Dashboard design using Design studio

The Lunch:

The best thing about the community events is the delicious food but quite surprisingly participants were so involved in the Hands On part that only after multiple reminders everybody came for Lunch.

Everybody assembled in the Grand Lunch Lounge by 1:30 PM  with delicious cuisine food ready to serve. Everyone enjoyed the lunch and break which was accompanied by members networking around.

Post Lunch session:-

Everyone resumed their leftover activity and completed the whole Hands-on Flow after which we had a coffee break and around 4 PM.

It was more of networking activity rather than a beverage break where various participants (from Accenture, Infosys, NTT, TCS ….) interacted with each other on personal and professional front accompanied by a group photo session.

Concluding session:-

We had some Q&A on the topics covered throughout the day and after that we can say we can answer the below points.

  • What is BW on HANA?
  • How BW on HANA works?
  • What are the different types of Info Providers?
  • How to Build BW Info Providers consuming HANA artifacts?
  • How to consume data from BW Info providers using BOE Analysis OLAP?
  • What is Design Studio?
  • How to build simple dashboard using Design Studio?

The event then concluded with thanks giving and closing speech by mahesh.kumar8 who helped in organizing  this first SAP Code Jam event in Hyderabad .

It’s a request to participants who could not attend the event  to inform the organizer in advance so that other queued participants can be given chance to attend the event .

Thanks to mahesh.kumar8 , SAP Team and TCS team for making the event a grand success , Kudos and Happy Learning  !!!!.

Regards,

RKS
