Whether you were at SAPPHIRE NOW in Orlando or not, I’m sure you heard the buzz around user experience. From Bill McDermott’s keynote to the Fiori Café to the customer sessions talking about UX, there was definite interest and desire to reinvent the SAP user experience. See the UX highlights from SAPPHIRE NOW below.

The Keynote

Bill McDermott announced in his keynote that all customers deserve a “simple, gorgeous user experience with SAP”, that “SAP Fiori is a winner” and ultimately that SAP Fiori UX is now included within underlying licenses of SAP software.

Fiori Café

Attendees could get a caffeine buzz at the Fiori café AND learn all about our user experience strategy, solutions and services. The café, located in Downtown on the SAPPHIRE NOW showfloor, was constantly busy as attendees talked with UX experts and were able to get their photo on a magazine cover.

User experience was a hot topic in the Platform & Technology Campus. At first, attendees wanted to know what SAP Fiori UX was and then later in the week, there were more technical questions focused on implementation, extensibility and security. Participants also attended packed demo theater and microforum sessions focused on how to create a UX center of excellence, how to increase productivity through personalization with SAP Screen Personas and how to create and extend apps that apply the SAP Fiori UX.

Customer Sessions about UX

Speakers from Nestle, Unilever and Freescale Semiconductor highlighted their experience with UX and the benefits that a better UX is bringing to their companies. If you missed the sessions, you can watch the replays now:

Personalize and Simplify the User Experience (Nestle)

Prioritize User Experience in IT Organizations (Unilever)

Elevate the User Experience to Increase Productivity (Freescale)

In addition, customers of SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA talked about UX in a panel session at SAPPHIRE NOW.

Changing the Game in User Experience

Sam Yen is a familiar face on stage demonstrating simple and powerful software during the SAPPHIRE NOW keynotes. And now, he has been appointed the chief design officer – a clear signal of our commitment and focus on design thinking principles. Watch a video interview with Sam talking about SAP’s ambitious effort to ensure customer success and delight end users.
