With 2 million line items in its inbound supply chain alone, McKesson Corporation faced challenges in getting its products to its customers. Areas in its Distribution Centers would be bogged down, which resulted in delayed work downstream, and supply chain complexities made identifying bog down points where products are getting stuck in the supply chain difficult. These delays may affect SLA fulfillment, and businesses can be impacted when patients do not get the equipment on time. With that, McKesson needed data real-time in order to make decisions and fix problems instantaneously.

With the volume and integration complexity challenges, SAP HANA provided a single platform solution to aggregate disparate data on multiple systems with individual reporting functions, to deliver a single source of truth. Non-SAP datasets can also be integrated.

Having proven the strong use case for HANA in its supply chain operations, McKesson’s next steps include bringing in ECC, BW and other non-BW assets onto HANA.
