Last week at sapphirenow one of the big messages was the story around how companies can respond to changing market demands and business drivers through business transformation.  While this is not a new service offering inside SAP services, Business Transformation Services (SAPBTS) is relatively new to North America.  With over 700 trained consultants in EMEA and nearly 50 in North America, Business Transformation Services is leading the path forward as the "tip of the spear" to help clients take business strategies and enable those through SAP beast practices and processes.

At sapphirenow2014, SAP BTS head of marketing Shuchi Sharma moderated a panel consisting of three customer testimonials by Cardinal Health, the US Army, and Hallmark Cards.  In each situation, the organization was facing rapidly changing market forces requiring the organization to shift its direction, innovate, and adapt new strategies.  In the case of Cardinal Health, their transformation reflected the changing business environment surrounding the US Affordable Care Act and the changes to not only the sale of medical devices but also the services provided to support those devices in health care systems.  For Cardinal Health, their challenge surrounded customer engagement and the need to optimize field sales management.  And in the case of the US Army, their changing market dynamic involved the global deployment of capital assets and the need to modify the write-down and amortization schedule for those assets as they were deployed to multiple global fields of combat and incurred service (maintenance repair operations, "MRO") in those theaters until the time of retirement.

The Value Partnership Services (VPS) model focuses on outcome-based approaches to help SAP clients move from strategy formulation to strategy execution.  The use of an embedded trusted advisory allows continuity of the model through the turbulent waters as an SAP customer embarks on their journey of transformation.

Sunil Patel - Vice President for SAP Business Transformation Services, North America - joined me and ASUGtv host Courtney Bjorlin for the post-game on the panel and for a "What is SAP BTS 101?" session at sapphirenow2014 in Orlando.  The video is below and also available on the ASUGtv channel on YouTube.
