While the latest version of the EPM Add-In for MS Excel user guide (https://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boeo10/en/EPMofc_10_user_en.pdf)https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&sqi=2&ved=0CB0Q... was just updated, yesterday, it does not include at least one great feature that was rolled out for SP17.
You can now type directly into the member selector for each dimension in the Context Bar! This is so much easier than having to use the GUI to select the member. In order to make this work, you need to be sure to go to the User Options of the EPM ribbon, and select the Others tab, as shown below:
Be sure to check "Enable Manual Entry of Members."
Now, you will be able to click in the member selector box for a particular dimension and enter the ID (not the description) directly into the member selector field, and press Enter.
This is a significant improvement, in my opinion! Hope you find this useful for you and your users, as well.
