The SAP Insider Global event series took place recently in Europe and hat its stop in Nice, France.

This is one of the key event for Analytics including BI, Financial, Predictive, BIG Data & HANA and we had around 1400 people onsite which is >10%

Day1 started with a keynote from both Christian Rodatus and Irfan Khan.

The key theme was the need for change to turn into real-time enabled enterprises and even more leverage the predictive capabilities to your advantage.

The analysts even call it "prescriptive Analysis" and better insight about the best possible future.

SAP also announced their readiness to deliver "trusted data discovery". This is also in sync with the analysts viewpoint.

Besides giving more users and casual users analytic capabilities "apple-easy" to use it is also key that there is a certain level of governance and control.

Many customers complained already that in self-service 1 tool scenarios it is like "excel on steroids", yes it is easy to use but fully disconnected from the one level of corporate information.

The micro session on SAP Lumira was fully booked and people started queuing up as of the high level of interest.

In case you are interested to have a look on your own, the personal edition which has full functionality but limited to source support if free of charge to use. You can download it at saplumira.com

The other key trend we have seen is the increased demand to run BI successfully. It is really interesting to see that most of the customers have lots of KPI's but not really some or one to measure the success of the BI they run.

SAP addressed this and co-developed with Gartenr a tool-independant BI Strategy assessment which gives a quick start on the route to BI success.

SAP recommenda to run this with an certified consultant but there is a light version to give it a try.

This covers the BI need analysis by line of business and ist next to the assessment of an existing BI strategy.

The URL to run the self assessment is sap.com/bistrategy

Here are 3 videos from the venue to share some first hand experience.
