Now That SAP Fiori and Screen Personas Are Free, Here’s How to Get Started Quickly
In case you missed SAP CEO Bill McDermott’s keynote yesterday at Sapphire Now, I’ve embedded below the one-minute recap that highlights the exciting news that SAP Fiori and SAP Screen Personas are now included (i.e., free!) for SAP customers. In a nutshell, these two user experience (UX) products from SAP basically make it possible for SAP’s world-class enterprise software to be delivered as a consumer user experience.
So what’s the quickest way to take advantage of this new consumer user experience? Much in the same way that Fiori (download here) and Screen Personas (download here) are now “included” for SAP customers, so are the user experience rapid-deployment solutions (RDS). These solutions are the quickest way to take advantage of Fiori and Screen Personas and have a broad appeal as a set of solutions applicable for nearly all SAP customers.
Each is designed to have a predictable price, predictable scope, predictable implementation time, and predictable outcome and can be delivered either by SAP Services or SAP Partners. And, of course, the predictable price can be free if you are an SAP customer and choose to download the solutions directly and walk through the step-by-step guides yourself. See below for a quick overview of each of the four UX RDS packages including links for more details and direct downloads.

A welcome move by SAP by making Fiori, Free-ori π
I would like ot know what this decision will mean to existing customers.. do they still have to pay any licensing fees apps?
Hi Shivam,
Glad to hear you like this news! As for existing customers, they will receive a credit for licensing fees previously paid and then they, like new adopters of Fiori or Screen Personas, will not need to pay any licensing fees moving forward.
Hope this helps!
Hi Bob
This is a great news.
Many thanks
Shivam
Hi Bob! I have a small question: Fiori apps need oData services to grab data from ECC, therefore, customers will be charged for a Gateway license, despite Fiori being free?
Thank you!
Yes, Fiori does use oData services and does require NetWeaver Gateway. So Gateway is a prerequisite, but Gateway itself is already included in various licensing options from SAP. Meaning, many SAP customers will already have it independent of Fiori while other SAP customers will need to acquire a Gateway license in order to deploy Fiori.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Bob! I bet many clients doesn't know they already have Gateway bundled in one of their licenses. π
Hi Bob,
Can SAP partners will get Fiori for free of charge, so that we can develop some POCs on it.
Thanks,
Naga
Hi Naga,
The announcement that Fiori is now included is valid for partners as well.
Regards,
Bob
Will there be any maintenance fee for this? If so then how does that gets computed.
Thanks
-Arun
Hi Arun,
I don't believe there are additional fees. But you'd need to talk to your account executive for how the maintenace fee structure works for your specific case. In general, the idea is for existing SAP customers to have access to Fiori without additional fees.
Best,
Bob
Thanks for response Bob.

This is a great opportunity, any idea if there are any interactive tutorials available;
Hi Arvind,
You can learn more about the product itself at experince.sap.com and there is also a 30-day free trial of a full blown ERP system with Fiori. Learn more here: Interested in SAP Fiori but not yet ready to deploy? Play with it in the Cloud for free.
Hope this helps,

Hey Bob,
Excellent post. Quick follow-up question.
Above you mention the SAP Fiori Apps RDS solution applies to 44 apps. Do you know if this will be extended to the catalog of Fiori apps listed in the link here: SAP Fiori for SAP Business Suite - SAP Library?
Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,
Joseph
Hi Joseph,
Great question. Yes, the SAP Fiori Apps RDS does allow for more options beyond the 44 apps mentioned. If you follow the link given above in the post for the Service Marketplace landing page for the SAP Fiori Apps RDS, then look in the left-hand column for the link "Package Extension." Click on that to learn more details.
Hope this helps,
Bob
Hi All,
As a developer if I want to explore the features of SAP PERSONAS, how should I install it. Should I need to inform our BASIS team to install the software in the server or can I install it in my Personal System.
Thanks,
Kishore
Hi Kishore,
SAP PERSONAS is an Add-on to the system. You can get the Add-on from service market place and you need to inform BASIS to install it. For more details
