When I saw the tagline for this year’s ASUG Annual Conference, several things came to mind. The tagline, Every Experience Matters, got me thinking about experience as in knowledge gained and what it is to experience something. Perhaps a little confusing, but hear me out.
Conference attendees are invited to “experience” everything from interactive demos of SAP applications to interacting with SAP product managers and executives; to learning what peers from other organizations and industries are doing to participating in the educational sessions on current solutions and new products. They are even encouraged to enjoy Orlando and more social activities. All could be part of the ‘experience’.
But, experience can mean something else, too. One can gain experience on our own or take advantage of learning from others. How we use and apply our attained experience counts. Past involvements form our experiences, both good and bad, and color the way we approach what we do going forward. Each of us is the sum of our experiences.
I’ve seen those who have had unfavorable solution implementation experiences pour their heart and soul into making the next one more successful. They took a flawed situation and learned from it and made changes. We’ve probably all seen just the opposite as well: building on a bad experience to the point where it impacts anything new that is tried negatively. Every experience matters; however, it is what you do with the experience that matters most.
Attending the ASUG Annual Conference and of course, SAPPHIRE NOW, is not only ‘an experience’ but an opportunity to increase knowledge and ‘gain experience’. A couple of areas that showcase experience at the conference are the customer led sessions under the ASUG umbrella and the array of solution provides exhibiting. Customer sessions afford a great opportunity to learn from peers who share solution and implementation stories and what lessons they learned along the way – what worked and what didn’t. We can benefit from others’ knowledge. Each company’s experience matters.
Within the exhibition hall, experience flourishes. Legions of SAP partner companies devoted to expanding and improving all aspects of the SAP ecosystem, are on hand to impart their areas of expertise. The SAP Partner community offers a wealth of information, deep knowledge and hands-on experience in assisting organizations who want to maximize their investment in SAP solutions.
As a conference attendee, you can learn from those who have had years of dedicated SAP experience working with customers to add solutions to optimize various facets of the SAP environment and lower total cost of ownership. There will be many exhibitors on the convention floor. Focus on those who have stood the test of time with proven results year over year and have the flexibility to adapt to each organization’s individualized environments. When choosing a partner, experience really does matter.
Stop by the ASUG Booth and Booth 913 and add to your experience. Experts will be on hand to work with you. Every experience matters.
