Good news – I saw on Twitter this morning that Design Studio 1.3 is released, and this is before SAPPHIRE NOW.  However, when Design Studio 1.2 was released last November, many experienced issues.

If you have already installed Design Studio 1.2, you may be tempted or think to install the Design Studio 1.3 under “Installation and Upgrades” on the software distribution center at – but don’t do this as we saw the last time that unexpected errors would occur.

You will want to install the version under “Support Packages and Patches” – see below:

After downloading select the executable:

Click Next

Hopefully you will see “The deployment and reconfiguration of SAP products was successful”

When I first launched Design Studio 1.3 I was prompted for the SDK migration:

I went ahead and installed these custom SDK components.

Then I restart the session.

Now into Design Studio with so many features to try.  I am not using Planning, so hopefully others will share their experience with Planning which is one of the main features of this release.

Also new is the HANA native connectivity.

We use enterprise portal. Should this add-on be installed on the portal or BW server?

Does the add-on include NEW_DESIGN_FONT.CSS or must this be installed separately?

    Hello Tammy,

what kind of issues have you seen? the content under “installation” and “support packages” is actually the same, simply differently splitted. Therefore there should be no difference on upgrade. For the Client, in case there are some issues after installation, you can always uninstall and double check if the installation folder is empty (if not, delete what is in). then make the fresh install again. But this is only in case of issues which we do not expect.

    Regards, Karol
