One of my favorite movies is the 1980s cult classic satire, “The Gods Must Be Crazy”,  about a man from an isolated, close knit tribe in the Kalahari Desert who encounters a Coca-Cola bottle that had fallen from an airplane. The tribe had no awareness of airplanes and became fascinated with this “foreign” coke bottle they could not explain. They had lived happily for years with no knowledge of the outside world until that fateful day when Coca-Cola descended from the “gods”.  The tribe’s community was disrupted by the realization that there was another world beyond their own.  The power of connectedness that suddenly brings change!

Technology innovation has been used to propel many transformational agendas including, improvements to  business processes, increased cost competitiveness, and greater connectedness.

Next Tuesday at SAPPHIRE NOW, I have the unique opportunity to host a keynote panel of leading SAP customers who are spearheading innovations to increase connectedness with their customers through technology innovation. Our panel includes:

  • Kalahari (inspiring the “The Gods Must be Crazy” reference in this blog) will discuss how they are taking omni-channel commerce and omni-channel customer centricity to new levels while providing access to goods and services to people and businesses in emerging markets.
  • Visa will be presenting how they have transformed from a linear point-to-point transaction processing company to a multi-dimensional, full service financial services partner through improved business processes and increased connectedness between its corporate customers.
  • T-Mobile will discuss how they are leveraging advanced technologies to transform marketing to a demographic of “one”. Instead of saturating their customers with messaging like many vendors do, T-Mobile connects to their customers with highly tailored offers and messages.

Here’s an opportunity for you to participate and contribute to this panel. Tweet @dvubroady any questions for our panel in advance.  If you are at SAPPHIRE NOW, stop by our Industries Keynote on Tuesday, June 3 at 10:30 AM to hear more about how these companies are innovating through connectedness.

I am looking forward to connecting with you at SAPPHIRE NOW!
