SAP Sales Academy Experience with Pauline Scordel, CoE Predictive Analytics

This is a recent interview conducted with Pauline Scordel – Recent hire for SAP Presales Academy, and Student at Ecole Polytechnique Feminine. Pauline shares a little bit about herself, her passions for technology and how that inspires her at SAP!

/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/paulinescordel_458492.pngI’m Pauline Scordel, I just finished my last year at the EPF, engineering school, as the major of my promotion. I am specialized in Business Decision Engineering. I am 23 years old and I have always lived in Paris. I’m ambitious and enthusiastic about team working. I’m passionate about IT technologies, especially data mining projects and web marketing.

To professionally compliment my studies I have worked as intern in innovative companies. My current internship takes place at SAP France in Paris. I am a part of the Center of Excellence Predictive Analytics EMEA: my role is to support sales forces by making presentations, demonstrations of the solution (SAP InfiniteInsight), proof of concepts, helping during training sessions, creating assets etc

What makes you passionate about pursuing an education or career in technology?

I’m passionate about data mining and new technology: understanding what happens in data, identify patterns and be able to predict some phenomena. I discovered these topics during my studies at the EPF. I’ve never stopped looking for information about data mining, predictive analytics and more generally about databases and technology: it seems obvious for me pursuing my career in this area.

Working at SAP allows me to be totally immersed in technology and it’s really exciting. As part as the Center of Excellence Predictive Analytics, I build predictive models to show customers and partners how to gain insight into their customers (improve churn detection, identify next best action/offer etc.).

I discover how SAP software can leverage the power of in-memory databases as SAP HANA. I started my internship at SAP 2 months ago and I know I’m passionate about pursuing my career in technology.

What inspires you about technology right now?

It’s amazing how technology is evolving : cloud computing, in-memory database, real time analysis, big data, mobile computing etc. I can see all these innovation technologies by working at SAP and it really inspires me. One software alone is so innovative and powerful. Linking different software together, applied to various industries allows to answer almost all business users questions and needs. It’s amazing to know that all these new technologies help generating business value.

What gets you excited when you think about the future of technology or how do you think technology can change the world?

Technology isn’t static, always evolving and answering new business user needs, this is what really gets me excited when I think about the future of technology. New technology has to be innovative and must fit with existing enterprises solutions. It’s exciting to understand and discover new technologies. Technology can really have a strong positive impact for example by increasing projects business values by completing it faster. Then I am convinced technology can really change the world and already is.

When you look ahead, what do you most look forward to about your career? What impact do you hope to have on the world?

I want to continue my career as a presales solution engineer in predictive analytics. I would like to bring my contribution to help selling new software that revolution the way to achieve IS project. I would like to make a real impact on SAP customers and more globally on the world.

More and more data are generated and stored in databases. I want to help companies to better understand their data in order to transform them into information and knowledge. This is actually what I’m trying to do during my internship at SAP. The software I work on and I help to sell is SAP InfiniteInsight: more than providing all data mining functions (classification, regression, clustering etc.), it’s easy to use and it brings an automated approach.

I applied to SAP Presales Academy in order to be prepared to an amazing career at SAP. To summarize, I would like to continue SAP make the world run better!
