Focusing on Others Helps Self

I was encouraged when I saw the following post:

I Care, I Gave, I Inspired

It takes very little to influence and mobilize others around something we are passionate about.  Likewise, I’ve found that my own personal life seems to go better when I am less focused on self and more focused on serving those around me.  I have seen this in both my personal and professional lives.  I’ll spare you the details, but get involved.  Whether it is helping a family next door, getting involved in programs like Room in the Inn, Compassion International, or feeding the homeless in your community.  There are so many ways to get involved.  Just provide a little creativity, think about what you are passionate about, and find others who are also passionate in that area.  For me, on a personal level, my wife and I like to find things that our young boys can be a part of, too.  So, we have created some of our own opportunities to make sure our boys are involved.  Some places do not allow children to volunteer or it would not be wise to have a bunch of little kids in the soup kitchen, etc…  at least not our boys!

So, what works for you?

I wish you well in your endeavors to make this world a better place and as you bless those around you or half way around the world!
