Question and Answer

(note there were several questions, can’t vouch for 100% accuracy in answers (typing)

Q: When can we expect to see scheduling “query prompt support” in Analysis for Office?

A: cannot confirm 100%, but we’re currently looking for resources to deliver it by end of the year.

Q: When will SSO to HANA data sources with Analysis for Office be added? Right now, we have to input the password manually or configure  BOBJ to handle the HANA credentials.

A: Coming in planned innovations

Q: Is Analysis edition for Microsoft Office being deprictated like LiveOffice is due to the new Microsoft product and partnership?

A: No – Analysis Office is still for BW/BEx Data Query sources and SAP is planning to provide .UNX support for Live Office –

A: see Q&A for roadmap here SAP BI Roadmap Future Direction – ASUG Webcast Part 3

Q: When will the support for universes be available on Analysis for MS Office?

A: Not listed on this roadmap; .UNX support is planned for Live Office – see Q&A SAP BI Roadmap Future Direction – ASUG Webcast Part 3

Q: When are planned innovations (slide 14) being looked at for having the deployment completed?

A: Standard SAP answer for roadmaps is 6-18 months for planned innovations

Q: What about Excel 2013 support ? Are there any plans to provide integration between PowerQuery/PowerPivot and BW Queries as datasource ?

A: Excel 2013 is supported now per the PAM at

No plans to provide integration for PowerQuery/PowerPivot

Q: One of slides says that you can transform Analysis Office Apps to iPad Apps using Design Studio (DS). We can export to Design Studio but it does not seem to use the iPad template in DS but just a normal web template in DS. Am I missing something?

A: No, you are not – have you tried Smart Copy Paste to Design Studio to see if it can use the template?

Q: Will Analysis Office have the same functionality that BPC has today for planning?

A: AO does not take the place of BPC.  The EPM Excel client that can now be used to visualize BPC data and AO will start merging functionality

A: Yes the Beta version functionality enhancing the table crosstab structure that allows the empty row/columns to be used for formula and save the formulas with the workbook

Q: Is the scheduling feature available in the Analysis, edition for OLAP as well?

A: No, and it is not planned.  Look to Design Studio for the future

A: Direct this to the SAP BI Platform team…

Q: is there any documention on security using Analysis Office against HANA Calculation views

A: yes

Q: Follow-up to my question: Install on the server or client machine?
