Already one of the world’s largest brewers, Molson Coors continues to grow by acquiring new beverage brands and distribution channels. But adding more strain to our already overburdened IT infrastructure was resulting in data-delivery delays that hindered decision-making. SAP Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA provided the forward-facing solution we needed that could scale with our growth, and the results so far have been outstanding.
To begin with, our IT team now can get business users the crucial financial reporting and other data they need first thing each morning. We can conduct forecasting faster and more frequently since it takes only half the time to complete. Modeling new report types now takes one day versus one week. And we’ve cut planning time in half and can receive query responses at much greater speed.
The solution’s benefits extend well beyond getting the right information into the right hands in a timely manner. Development has been simplified and accelerated by as much as 60% thanks to composite providers and workspaces. We’ve been able to dramatically reduce our database size and energy consumption because of SAP HANA’s inherent compression capabilities. Our IT team also can work more efficiently because there are fewer OLAP cubes to manage, ODS activations are happening up to 80% faster, and in-memory computing eliminates data latency while accelerating data provisioning.
And we’re just beginning to scratch the surface of what SAP HANA can offer. Projects that would have overwhelmed our legacy systems can now be implemented within this simplified and agile environment, all of which means that we can now enjoy a real-time, 360º view of our global operations—no matter how far or fast we expand. At a recent event, Pawel Mierski, Senior BI Development Lead, stated, “The reason we are where we are today is thanks to SAP.” And he responded to a customer inquiry, “Just do it. Get SAP.”
