New RDS openSAP Course & Community Feedback

openSAP.pngHave you heard the news? Next week a new openSAP course will begin entitled Rapid Deployment of SAP Solutions. For those unfamiliar, openSAP is essentially SAP’s version of the “Massive Open Online Courses” philosophy on education. That is, these courses are conducted entirely online and all materials provided can be accessed from any device that’s connected to the Internet (e.g., smartphone, desktop, tablet, etc.).

Oh, and they’re free!

openSAP courses are generally conducted over a few weeks and require a commitment of a few hours per week. The idea is that you have the flexibility of watching short prerecorded videos for a given learning unit anytime during the week but that, in general, you experience them with thousands of other participants during the same assigned week. The reason is that each week there is an active discussion forum for participants to engage one with another as well as with content experts available to answer questions on the topic at hand.

It’s meant to be the best of both worlds: flexible enough that you can fit the learning in whenever convenient for you during the week. But structured enough that you stay on schedule and take advantage of additional online engagement as needed. And upon successful completion of the videos, short weekly assignments, and a final exam, you will receive a record of achievement.

So check it out! As of this writing, there are 6,320 participants registered to learn how to use SAP rapid-deployment solutions (RDS) to deploy SAP innovations and solutions faster and better than ever via best practices, guides, and tools packaged together. Here’s the planned weekly schedule starting May 14, 2014:

  • Week 1: General Packaging Overview
  • Week 2: Concepts and Tools Overview
  • Week 3: Solution Domain Overviews (Select one or more of the following solution domains *)
    • Week 3A: SAP ERP Foundation Extension Incl. ABAP-Based Deployment
    • Week 3B: SAP CRM Incl. ABAP-Based Deployment
    • Week 3C: SAP HANA
    • Week 3D: SAP User Experience
    • Week 3E: Extending SAP HCM to the Cloud
  • Week 4: Services Offering Creation *

* Week 3 and Week 4 content will both be open for 2 weeks.

Why is Week 3D bolded you might ask? Simple, it’s the unit where I’m the instructor! And if you want to learn about the quickest ways to take advantage of a better user experience by using Fiori and other technologies, you’ll definitely want to check out this learning unit (as it relates to our latest portfolio of UX RDS packages recently released).

One last thing: we here on the SAP rapid-deployment solutions team take your feedback very seriously and have put together a survey that will take only 2-5 minutes to complete but will tremendously help in how we approach creating and delivering our offerings to you. If you’d like to be more directly involved, you can fill out the optional fields. Otherwise, feel free to fill it out anonymously (only starred questions are required and these don’t identify you).

Either way, we love feedback and want to make our rapid-deployment solutions all the better for you!
