How to import the BIAR file on to a new BI 4.0 environment


Copy the BIAR file from the storage device to the destination system.To import a LCMBIAR file complete the following steps:-

Step 1:

Log on to SAP Business Objects BI Central Management Console with Administrator credentials.Once logged in, click on ‘Promotion Management’. Click on ‘Import’ --> ‘Import File’.

Step 2:

The “Import LCMBIAR file” window appears. Click Browse and select a BIAR File from the file system.

Step 3:

In the Password field, enter the password of the LCMBIAR file


Note: The Password field appears only if the LCMBIAR file is encrypted with a Password.

Step 4:

The ‘New Job’ page appears. In New Job page enter all the required details.

NAME: Will have the name of the job created when exporting the Info objects to LCMBIAR.This by default.

Description: Will have the description of the job created when exporting the Info objects to LCMBIAR.This by default.

Save Jobs In: A GUI element that enables you to store the job in a folder of your choice. You must select a folder to create a job.

Source System: This will have two options:

  1. From File
  2. Select a different file; this gives you an option to choose a different LCMBIAR file for the import.

Destination System: In the Destination drop-down list, select Login to a New CMS option and provide in the administrator credentials for that CMS where you want to import the LCMBIAR file --> Click Create.

This will import the contents of LCMBIAR file to the specified BI 4.0 environment destination.
