Scope and Effort Analyzer for Enhancement Packs (EHP) – Support Pack 11

Just as the dust settles on Feature Pack Two for Solution Manager SAP has released Support Pack 11. Aside from the usual fixes the major news is the release of the EHP Scope and Effort Analyzer. This is the long awaited tool that enables you to analyze the effort of upgrading. There have been 3^rd party tools available for some time for this functionality but SAP’s tool integrates this into its best practice Application Life-cycle Management (ALM) processes. It also provides the final piece of functionality that is designed to enable your organization to move to Two Value Releases a year. By adopting this approach IT organizations can become “Enablers” to the Business by proactively identifying innovation opportunities that add value. Also the integrated nature of the ALM process and Solution Manager enables a high level of automation that helps reduce cost and speeds up the delivery life-cycle ie faster time to benefit realization.

Key Points:

• Can be done with no physical deployment (no sandbox)
• Early estimation of effort and required adjustment activities for planning purposes
• Tailored impact analysis of modifications and custom code (code not sent to SAP)
• Testing optimization – how can we reduce the testing effort? This can be automatically generated
• Solution Manager set-up and UPL activated  (Technical, MPOZ, Business Blueprint etc)
